Contest Nature Put a kiosk during school/college carnival/fest to raise awareness on one of the Harit Umang Olympiad themes
Contest Type Group

A group of five students from each school/college would be required to choose one of the four themes from the Harit Umang Olympiad for FY 22-23 and put up a kiosk at the school carnival, college fest, or any other special occasion to create awareness regarding the theme.

OBJECTIVES

  • To raise awareness about either of the four themes: - Energy conservation, Plastic Waste management, E-waste management and Biodiversity.
  • To encourage schools and colleges to give space to students to conduct socially-relevant activities, especially activities related to environmental conservation, at seminars, special days, festivals, fairs, carnivals, etc.
  • To develop environmental communication skills among the students.

PROCESS

Step 1 The teacher or school/college coordinator will fill out the activity application form on behalf of a group of 5 students on the Panasonic Harit Umang Website
Step 2 The students would be required to choose one of the four themes of Harit Umang Olympiad for FY 2022-23* and put up a kiosk at the school carnival, college fest, or any other special occasion to create awareness regarding the theme.
Step 3 TThe students would then be required to take responses from the attendees at the carnival or festival, based on the knowledge the students share with them.
Step 4 The students must submit their work in the form of a report, photos, and feedback forms.

Note: A total of 5 students from each school/college are required to compete in a team.

CONSIDERATIONS / GUIDELINES

What to do?
  • A group of five students from each school/college would be required to choose one of the four themes (Energy Conservation, Plastic Waste Management, E-waste Management and Biodiversity) from the Harit Umang Olympiad for FY 22-23 and put up a kiosk at the school carnival, college fest, or any other special occasion to create awareness regarding the theme.
  • The students would be required to make informational material—in the form of charts, models, etc.—and put it on display at the kiosk.
  • The students would also be required to interact with the attendees and register their responses through a questionnaire (containing 5 questions shared below).
  • The students would also be required to submit a 300-word report (in PDF format).
  • The students would also be required to submit five photos of the activity.

*Note: The student should make sure that the attendees do not just include their school/college friends and teachers but, preferably, people who have come from outside the school or academic institution.

**Overall, the students are required to submit a report, feedback forms and a set of 5 photos in a folder with the name of the school as the title. The folder will be uploaded on the contest page of - ‘Bright ideas!’ contest.

Report

The students need to submit a 300-word long report including the details of -

  • How they created the kiosks and prepared the informational material.
  • What process did they use for raising awareness—verbal communication, demonstrations, etc.?
  • How did the attendees respond?
Photos

The students would also be required to submit five photos of the activity, including:

  • One photo of the kiosk
  • Two photos of informational material
  • Two photos of the students’ interaction with the attendees
SUBMISSION DEADLINE
  • The students must submit the folder before 5 PM on March 31, 2023.

JUDGING CRITERIA

  • The students will be marked on the basis of the feedback they are able to receive from the attendees. The marking criteria would include the number of feedback forms and the kind of feedback received from the participants.
  • The students would also be marked on the basis of the report and the photographs they submit. For this, they must adhere to the details mentioned in the guidelines.
